As of Thursday, February 12, the majority of the ports on the US West Coast are virtually shut down. The lockout is expected to last until Monday, February 16. This means that virtually all container handling in and out of the ports during this time is stopped.
The reason for the lockout is a conflict between the dockers' unions and their bosses that has been ongoing for the past seven months. The dispute affects all exports and inport, the goods supplied remain in the harbor and incoming ships has already waited for days to unload.
